01 Nov 2017
The public is informed that blasting activities along the Gaborone-Boatle road construction project started yesterday until November 13.
According to a press statement from the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the blasting works are necessary in order to excavate hard rocks on the Eastern carriageway (the left lane as one goes from Gaborone to Boatle).
“The activity has a consistent schedule to begin at 1430 hours, although this may vary by more or less than 30 minutes,” the statement reads.
During the blasting, states the release, the existing road will be closed to traffic for a period of 15 to 20 minutes. All necessary precautions will be taken for public safety.
It further says the Gaborone-Boatle road project is an ESP project meant to defuse traffic congestion along this section of the A1 road. The project started on March 24, 2017 and it is expected to be completed on March 23, 2019. BOPA
