Ntlo Ya Dikgosi has been informed that the construction of fully equipped offices for port health was requested under NDP11, but could not be accommodated owing to ceiling construction.

Assistant Minister of Health and Wellness, Mr Dikgang Makgalemele said this in response to a question from Kgosi Galeakanye Modise of Tswapong during the on-going Ntlo Ya Dikgosi session.

Mr Makgalemele said his ministry intends to re-submit the request under special dispensation within NDP11.

In the meantime, the ministry does not have scientific screening machines due to budgetary constraints, he said.

He however assured the House that adequate measures were in place at all designated points of entry to protect public health.

Kgosi Modise had asked the minister to state when he intends to construct fully fledged and adequately equipped offices for port health officers in all borders. He also wanted to know when the assistant minister would provide scientific screening machines for port health officers at all borders since there seem to be shortage of such machines. BOPA
