Human Resource Development Council (HRDC) chief executive officer, Dr Raphael Dingalo has urged Malatswai residents to work together with his council towards the development and upliftment of children’s learning at the village.
Mr Dingalo said this at the signing of an Adopt-a-School three year Memorandum of Understanding between HRDC and Malatswai Primary School.
“We are committed to contributing to the learning of pupils at Malatswai Primary School as a child is the future of our country,” he said.
Dr Dingalo said HRDC was engaged in the mission driven by the pillars of government which included the spirit of botho and self-reliance.
“As we begin this journey, we promise that we shall continue with the belief that we will work together cooperatively as HRDC and residents of Malatswai,” he said.
He pleaded with residents to love their children as that could bring positive results in the school.
“Our main focus is to bring positive results in our school for the benefit of this village,” he said.
Dr Dingalo said they aimed to develop the lives of citizens, adding that government was making considerable effort to develop the lives of citizens. “We, therefore, appreciate efforts made by teachers in developing the learners, especially at reception classes,” he said.
For her part, the school head, Ms Johanna Kgopo said they had challenges of shortage of classrooms, adding that some of the classrooms were dilapidated and unsuitable for learning.
She noted that they were working together with the Department of Buildings, as the buildings needed major renovation. She added that they faced a shortage of qualified reception class teachers, and also decried the shortage of accommodation for teachers. The event was combined with a reception class graduation ceremony. BOPA
