Officers assist SOS

30 Oct 2017

Departments under the Office of the President recently participated in a community services event, assisting SOS Children’s Village in Serowe.

Assistant district commissioner at Serowe Administration Authority, Ms Opelo Gabatswane expressed their commitment in ensuring that they assisted the SOS village to the stage at which they were able to harvest the produce.

“We have departments of Information and Broadcasting, Independence Electoral Commission, Department of Gender Affairs and our intention is to provide community service as per the government initiative. We have therefore identified SOS, who in-turn proposed we assist at the garden,” she said.

Ms Gabatshwane said as they had started and seen a desirable change, they will continue to give a monthly assistance towards the SOS village garden.

For his part, the SOS education coordinator, Mr  Bikie Morebodi thanked the departments for their noble gesture.

He said they appreciated visits of such nature as they had shortage of manpower and also could not employ additional hands at their garden due to budgetary constraints.

“We are short staffed. When we receive assistance of this nature, we can be able to receive produce from our garden, which will save us from buying at the market,” he said.

Mr Morebodi said in the past years, he has had more assistance from government departments, which had then decreased overtime. He then pleaded for assistance of such nature.
