Prof. Lumumba to headline career seminar
19 Oct 2017
Celebrated Kenyan lawyer and think-tank, Professor Patrick Lumumba is set to be the lead speaker at a career elevation seminar in Gaborone October 20.
Prof. Lumumba, who is the CEO of Kenya School of Law, is a world-renowned speaker and thought leader who believes in radical change.
Ms Elizabeth Baitumetse from Progressive Institute said they felt that Prof. Lumumba being the kind of person who believed in radical change, would be the most suitable individual to headline the career elevation seminar.
Ms Baitumetse, who stated that there was no headliner in their maiden seminar last year, expressed optimism that the presence of Prof. Lumumba would add impetus to the seminar going forward.
She explained that the career elevation seminar was designed to give fast-rising employees and high-potential executives the momentum to significantly boost their performance.
She said too often individuals become too comfortable in their positions and do not strive to progress.
She said the seminar would thus serve to re-ignite in the delegates the zeal for upward movement in their respective careers.
Ms Baitumetse said the line-up of speakers also comprised Ms Malebogo Mpugwa from De Beers, Mr Richard Malikongwa from the Institute for Development Management Ms Matlhogonolo Mponang from Botswana
Accountancy College, as well as Ms Mavis Ureke, a human behaviour specialist from South Africa.
She said the speakers, who are respected industry leaders with a wealth of experience in different fields, would speak to the theme of the seminar; Inspiring Talent to Reach Greater Heights.
She said having such a line-up of speakers was on its own a game changer.
Ms Baitumetse said over 200 delegates had so far registered for the seminar. BOPA
