BDP Womens Wing hosts high tea
16 Oct 2017
Africa’s youth population is expected to grow by 42.5 million by the year 2020.
Founder and chief executive officer of Patrice Bailey International, Ms Patrice Bailey has revealed said this when giving invaluable insights as a guest speaker at the 2017 Botswana Democratic Party Women’s Wing High Tea on Saturday.
To address challenges of unemployment in every country, Ms Bailey, who is a consultant, trainer and coach for women in business and aspiring business women, said youth needed to be taught entrepreneurship skills ‘as they cannot all get jobs, but can create more jobs with those skills’.
“Entrepreneurship is a learnt behaviour and youth need to be taught entrepreneurship because they are the future. You are not born with it,” she said.
As an innovative leader in the legal, business and coaching sectors, Ms Bailey whose message was themed: Unleashing Your Entrepreneurial Potential, also stressed that if favoured and supported, female entrepreneurship would also boost any economy.
“Countries that support and favour female entrepreneurship TO have stronger economies,” she added.
A business owner and an entrepreneur, Ms Bailey said were two different people, because a business owner built a business that depended on them and centred around their skills, talents and interests.
“A business owner devotes their energy and life working in their business, because his/her job is his/her business. A business owner also goes to work in his/her business and his/her business remains local, because it’s a business out of necessity and survival,” said Ms Bailey.
However, an entrepreneur, she said built an enterprise that ran itself with professional management, as he/she was free to invest his/her knowledge into another enterprise and goes to work on his/her business.
“An entrepreneur builds a brand, which can be developed in any country or city, as he/she is building a company through passion, purpose and practice.
He is a leader and a visionary and is clear about where he/she is going and why,” she added.
Worldwide, founder and CEO of Patrice Bailey International said it was evident that ‘women potential and value as entrepreneurs is yet to be unleashed’.
For that reason, she said to be a success in entrepreneurship and be excellent in whatever they do, women needed to be confident and have a positive character and passion.
“You must possess a passion for whatever you do. It’s a passion, the love and the excitement, which will pull you through challenges to come. Passion brings you and your business alive to people around you,” she said.
She also added that, ‘it takes thinking outside the box, which is looking at what you can do differently to everyone else, it takes pessimism, as you need to believe that your idea is possible and that you will succeed and it also takes problem-solving, because you cannot give up at the first sign of a problem. Quitting is not an option’.
“Without vision or focus, she said one would not succeed in life or business, as ‘without vision you have got nothing to guide you, because it is your vision that pushes you to and you must focus on the things that are going to give you results.”
“And it also takes action, so you must be a doer. You must overcome procrastination and challenges and get on with the job,” added Ms Bailey.
Patrice Bailey International is a global company unlocking the power and greatness in women.
It was established to create a generation of female entrepreneurs across the world, by educating and equipping them to create businesses and become women of excellence, influence and power to create wealth for their families and communities.
As a wife, mother of three and an entrepreneur, Ms Bailey said she juggles around all her roles with ease through hard work, commitment and determination.
Her other business, she said was called Bear Fruits Foundation and it is a charity that educates and trains youth in entrepreneurship.
In her welcome remarks, BDP Women’s Wing chairperson and Sefhare/Ramokgonami MP, Ms Dorcas Makgato encouraged women to be bold in their resolve to succeed in everything they do in life.
“Be bold in your decisions and set yourselves bold goals to achieve all that you put your mind to in life,” she said.
She thanked Ms Bailey for accepting the invitation to be a guest speaker at the high tea and commended the organisers for doing a sterling job. Ends
