Progressive Institute helps nurture talent

The Progressive Institute will on Friday host the second annual career elevation seminar at the Gaborone International Convention Centre under the theme, Inspiring top talent to reach to greater heights: rise into your destiny.
Speaking during a press briefing, Ms Tumie Ramsden, who is a consultant, said the second annual career elevation seminar will bring industry giants to come and have a word with people in Botswana concerning their talents.
“We want young people who will move Botswana forward and for us to reach greater heights, we need each other,” she said.
She further said it is high time young people came up with solutions for different problems that they faced.
For his part, the chief executive officer for Progressive Institute, Mr Mmoloki Mmolotsi said there was need to improve the competitiveness of individuals because the purpose of people being educated was to help them come up with solutions to problems.
“We found a niche in training, coaching and mentorship because there is need to come up with platforms that will enable young people to come up with solutions,”he said.
He noted that Progressive Institute hosts two seminars, the strategic talent acquisition seminar and career elevation seminar. He emphasised that the fact that people came to these seminars showed that what the institute was doing was relevant.
“One of our sponsors, De Beers Group of Companies participated in this event because they have seen the value of investing in it,” he said.
He emphasised that the aim of this seminar was to inspire people .
“ We want to come up with serious innovations and if we have talent how sophisticated are we, how technology literate are we,’’he said. Mr Mmolotsi noted that there was need to start building capacity and leadership adding the country needed people who were radical in terms of decision making.
He emphasised that the seminar had benefits both to the organization and participants. Mr Mmolotsi said the benefits to the organization included nurturing, developing and retaining valuable talent, driving behavioural and sustained cultural change and speeding up delivery of change and service transformation initiatives and the benefits to the participants included improved self-awareness and confidence as well as clarity on skills development and career progression.
