Morama Clinic employees have donated a standpipe, food hampers, blankets and a mattress to Mr Dingalo Kelapologile of Ghanzi on Tuesday.
Speaking during the handing over of the donation, Ghanzi North Member of Parliament, Mr Noah Salakae praised Morama Clinic employees for their generosity, saying such a gesture would elevate the status of the beneficiary.
Mr Salakae appealed to other members of the community to emulate Morama Clinic employees gesture. “We cannot help everybody but everyone can help somebody.” “Do not neglect to do good and share what you have for such sacrifices are pleasing to God,” he cited from the holy book.
He told his audience that though Vision 2016 had elapsed, they should not abandon it but should continue borrowing a leaf citing a compassionate, just and caring nation pillar. He told the beneficiary to take good care of the standpipe and pay the water bill to avoid water disconnection.
MP Salakae thanked stakeholders who took part in the donation of the standpipe such as Kuru Letloa Trust. He urged them to always remember the needy and to always give with love.
Giving an overview of the project, Morama Clinic nurse in charge, Ms Kgaisanyo Mantswemabe said the donation was a result of a project they undertook at their clinic after realising that the clinic has the highest number of Tuberculosis (TB) patients.
She said to educate the public about TB, they did a fundraising beauty pageant and managed to raise P3 996 which they later agreed to use to erect the standpipe for the beneficiary.
Ms Mantswemabe said they did this to give the beneficiary human dignity and to show love that they cared for the under privileged.
She said they did this to improve the status of Mr Kelapologile’s family. For his part, Mr Kelapologile said he was thankful for the gift as he had been sourcing water from his neighbours, but that it was not easy as they called him names and accused him of wasting water.
He said sometimes he used his only source of income, ipelegeng wages to pay water bills for his neighbours.
He assured donors that he would take care of the standpipe. ENDS
