MP assures residents to attend to grievances

Member of Parliament for Lentsweletau/Mmopane, Mr Vincent Seretse has assured residents of Kopong that he would attend to their concerns.
Mr Seretse’s response followed complaints by residents during a kgotla meeting recently that they have long raised concerns about the toilet conditions at Letsholo Primary School and to date nothing has been done.
“I can assure you right now that there is a company that has been awarded a tender to repair those toilets so that they can be usable.
They are currently working on them,” he said.
On issues of stock theft in the area, Mr Seretse, who is also the minister of Investment, Trade and Industry assured residents that his office would meet relevant stakeholders in the village to find ways of addressing the problem.
He informed residents that he was also aware of the Tlhape/Kgaphamadi lands issue, where the land board was working round the clock to address the double allocation of plot to many applicants.
“It came to my knowledge that we have serious cases where more than five people own one piece of land.
I am assuring you that land board is working hard to resolve the issue and the rightful owners of the plots will get them, all they need is cooperation from you,” pleaded Mr Seretse.
In his remarks, Kgosi Michael Molefe informed the MP about roaming gangs stealing and robbing them their belongings and cattle.
He said although cases of stock theft in the village were increasing, the laws on the other hand seem to be lenient on perpetrators as they easily get bail only to commit more crime.
He however noted that they were making efforts to remedy the situation as there was a group of volunteers working hand in hand with the police by patrolling the area. ENDS
