Heavy winds sweep through F-town

Four houses in Francistow have been destroyed by heavy winds on Sunday following a storm that hit the city.
Speaking in an interview on Monday, area district development officer, Mr Boyce Mangole revealed that the four affected houses are in Block 1, Block 2 and Block 7.
He said the winds blew off the rooves for the houses, leaving one person stranded. However, there was no record of injuries sustained.
He noted that the damage was not immense on the other three houses, except for one person who had to be assisted with food and also had some of her property destroyed by the rain.
Besides the destroyed houses, Mr Mangole added that they had recorded one indedent of a big tree that fell on the road along the Marimavu Street which the police marked as a risk for traffic control.
However, he urged people to build their houses according to the building Act standards and ensure that they were always in good condition, especially during rainy season. ENDS
