Assistant minister of Tertiary Education, Research, Science and Technology, Mr Fidelis Molao has urged private tertiary institutions to focus on producing quality graduates.
Mr Molao made the advice on October 5 during a tour of the Imperial School of Business and Science (ISBS) campus in Gaborone.
He said producing quality graduates would raise credibility of the institutions from government and the private sector.

Furthermore, he urged private tertiary institutions to periodically audit their processes to find out whether they were on the right track.
“The graduates, which we produce, the quality should be good. I am happy that you have complied with the Botswana Qualifications Authority new regulations,” he told ISBS management.

Mr Molao further commended the institution for its generous Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme through which it assisted SOS Children’s Village, Princess Marina Hospital and several public schools.
“We appreciate that and we hope that those you assist willl show that they really appreciate your assistance through producing good results,” he said.
The ISBS operations director, Mr Nidheesh Sharma said enrolment at the institution currently stood at 417 students.

He outlined that the institution provided various certificate, diploma and degree programmes, adding that all programmes offered at the institution were accredited by BQA.
The ISBS managing director, Mr Zaeem Anwar said they wanted to brief the assistant minister about their achievements, challenges and aspirations.

He said ISBS, which commenced operations as Damelin Botswana in 2003 before re-branding, was committed to providing quality and affordable education to citizens and residents of Botswana.
He said the ISBS has adopted three houses at SOS Children’s Village under its CSR programme, where it contributed thousands of Pula annually.

Furthermore, he said they assisted in the education of selected children from SOS. ENDS
