Hukuntsi Sub-landboard has donated sanitary pads, toothpastes and tooth brushes worth P1 000 to Tshane Primary School pupils.
Speaking during the hand over ceremony recently, assistant deputy Sub-landboard secretary, Mr Ditshebo Seabelo said the landboard’s health and safety committee saw it fit to lend a helping hand in supporting the girl child since they were vulnerable to various life challenges.
Mr Seabelo said their 31 staff members pledged sanitary pads to assist the girls during their menstruation cycles.
He said some feared to share with their parents while others skipped school during that period of the month because they could not afford to buy sanitary pads.
Mr Seabelo said they would reach out to other schools in the constituency to give the girl child a dignified life for them to live normal lives so that they become responsible individuals in future.
The school head, Ms Susan Montshiwa lauded the donors and appreciated that the gift came at the right time when the Standard 7 examinations were commencing.
She said the gift would motivate pupils and assist in their well-being.
On other issues, she encouraged parents to help students study and afford them time to rest.
One of the parents, Ms Boitumelo Kukune thanked the donors for the noble gesture and encouraged them to extend a helping hand to other less privileged community members.
Parents and Teachers Association representative, Ms Marea Matlho also appreciated the support.
She said the gift would motivate students to excel in their studies.ENDS
