Minister of Defence, Justice and Security Mr Shaw Kgathi has commended Ms Jeannette Mooketsi for donating clothes to Dukwi refugees.
Minister Kgathi said giving, was consistent with Botswana culture and tradition adding that Ms Mooketsi’s noble and philanthropic gesture should not be overlooked because she had extended a helping hand to people who have been displaced from their countries as a result of war and violence.
“The clothes we have just received will surely bring comfort to the lives of many refugees and I will ensure that they reach the refugee camp,” he said.
Mr Kgathi said that Ms Mooketsi’s kindness also complemented government efforts in improving the lives of the refugee community adding that the benevolence of partners such as hers was appreciated and would not go unnoticed.
For her part, Ms Mooketsi who comes from Shoshong said that something touched her heart to extend a help to the needy and then she decided to donate to the refugees at Dukwi camp.
Ms Mooketsi said that it gives her joy to give without looking back to the receiver to give back citing that she did not want to give out her rejected clothes hence she chose what she loved most or what she has never used from her wardrobe.
Thanking the gathering, Acting Permanent Secretary Mr Ikotlhaeng Bagopi
Mr Bagopi encouraged Batswana to emulate Ms Mooketsi and give to those who are in need as this would be in line with the President’s call “to be a compassionate nation.” Ends
