Debswana-First Division South launches

High riding Notwane Football Club and Letlapeng game will be used to officially launch Debswana First Division –South at  Botswana  Police College on Saturday.

Notwane has won all their two games, and they are at the top of the log with six points while Letlapeng have lost one game and they are seating on position four.

Therefore Saturday’s  affair is expected to spark fireworks given that should Notwane lose, that will give Letlapeng another hope of being at par with Notwane, which has been bragging of gaining promotion this season.

Debswana First Division –South, secretary Sidney Magagane confirmed that the game would be used to launch the league.

He said the launch was done also last year in Francistown, when Debswana re-newed their sponsorship, adding that it was agreed that this season’s launch would be held in the South.

He said their mission was to bring Debswana closer to the people as well as showcase the talent in the First division teams.

“There is going to be some activations and our aim is now to brand all our games as we understand the importance of branding and the mileage the sponsor can get from that,” he said.

He said, they appreciate Debswana Diamond Mining Company for finding in prudent to sponsor their league, because since they came on board, there had been a very tremendous improvement.

In other issues, Magagane said this season their vision was to close the gap between First division and the elite league, as they were of the view that, they do not have a robust relationship.

He said their league is the one feeding, the elite league, therefore it was paramount that, if Premier League teams are not in action, his league be accorded the opportunity to use other Stadiums.

Magagane said they want to see a very different league this season, adding that there was no doubt there was going to be a very interesting competition because teams were determined and poised to gain promotion to the elite league.

In other games to be played on Saturday, Lesirane City will face Mogoditshane Fighters at Lesirane Ground, Prison XI will host Matebejane at SSG  Ground, Mochudi Rovers and Modipane United will take their war to Mochudi, Red Sparks will date Black Rangers at Red Spark Ground, while Broadhurst United and Black Peril will play at Sharps Shooting Stars Ground.
