Electrification to booster results - Madigele

10 Sep 2017

Minister of Tertiary Education, Research, Science and Technology, Dr Alfred Madigele says electrification of Lorolwane will help improve general performance of students at the lone primary school in the village.

He said during a kgotla meeting on Thursday in Lorolwane in response to villagers, majority of whom applauded government for having listened to their plea of many years to have their village electrified.

Dr Madigele, who is also a Member of Parliament for Molapowabojang/Mmathethe could not hide his excitement at the development that he stated would help bolster  Lorolwane Primary School results, which are currently not up to scratch.

“We are happy that after so long electricity is here and brings along positives, especially at Lorolwane Primary School, where results are not satisfactory,” he said. He said in particular the school would be able to use electricity powered educational gadgets and that pupils would be able to study at their respective homes with the aid of electricity; something he said should instantly turn around results.

Also, Dr Madigele called on parents to develop love for the education of their children, saying teachers could not go it alone. On others, the lawmaker challenged residents to take the responsibility of their own health and test themselves for non-communicable disease such as diabetes, high blood pressure and many others to curb unnecessary loss of life.

Commenting, residents expressed displeasure with the deplorable condition of Lorolwane/Sekhutlane road, which they said rendered parental trips to check on progress of students at Mariba Junior Secondary School in Mabule a difficult undertaking. They learnt however that the road in question was the responsibility of Good Hope/Mabule Sub-district.

Dr Madigele assured them he would take the matter up with the relevant sub-district and make authorities appreciate the importance of the road, especially to parents of children who go to school in Mabule. ENDS
