Envoy hails relations

The new Ambassador of Germany to Botswana, Mr Ralf Breth has presented his credentials to President Lieutenant General Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama.
In an interview after presenting the credentials Tuesday, Mr Breth said relations between Botswana and Germany had remained strong over the years.
He attributed the status quo to the two countries’ mutual respect for among others, democracy, the rule of law as well as respect for international law.
Mr Breth said Botswana and Germany enjoyed cooperation in the areas of vocational training, protection of natural resources and development of renewable energy sector.
He added that while Germany had a strong appreciation of nature, the country hoped to learn more from Botswana as the latter’s efforts towards natural resources management were more advanced.
Formal diplomatic ties between the two countries were established in 1974 and have grown steadily over the years. ENDS
