Scholarship builds knowledge networks

United Kingdom (UK) education sector promotes exchange of information and ideas.
Speaking at the send-off luncheon for Chevening scholarship recipients on August 30, British High Commissioner to Botswana, Ms Katy Ransome the said the programme also helps in the building of knowledge and networks that see Chevening Scholars growing academically, professionally and personally as a result of their time in the UK.
Ms Ransome says the UK was home to some of the world’s best universities and most revered academics.
She added that Chevening Scholarship was a bridge between countries because scholars become part of an intercultural exchange.
She said over the years, scholars from Botswana had enriched not only their lives, but also that of all those they spent time with in the the UK and Botswana.
“This is more than a scholarship. It is also a chance for scholars to become leaders and ambassadors in their career path, and each scholar strengthens and reinvigorates the relationship between the UK and Botswana,” she added.
Chevening Scholarships are awarded to individuals with demonstrable leadership potential who also have strong academic backgrounds.
The scholarship offers full financial support for future leaders to study for any eligible master’s degree at any UK university while gaining access to a wide range of exclusive academic, professional and cultural events.
Scholarships are the UK government’s global scholarship programme, funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and partner organisation.
They support study at UK universities, mostly one year taught master’s degree, for individuals with demonstrable potential to become future leaders, decision makers and opinion formers.
The scholarship for this year was rewarded to Ms Candice Dubane, Ms Wetsho Mosokwe, Ms Tshidi Bale, Mr Kabo Muyaluka, Ms Florence Chilisa, Ms Unozha Lejowa and Ms Ludo Chube.
The group will undergo a one-year programme at different prestigious universities in the UK. ENDS
