WUC FNBB partner to offer water bills

Water Utilities Corporation (WUC), in collaboration with First National Bank Botswana (FNBB), has developed self-service platforms to facilitate convenient access to its services.
Customers would access services on mobile phones via the Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) and WUC website.
They would be able to pay their water bills at any location and also report issues such as leakages and make enquire about outstanding bill statements.
o use the service, customers would be required to disclose card number, Card Verification Value (CVV) number and card expiry date as well as customer and contract numbers with WUC to use the service.
Giving remarks on the partnership on Tuesday, WUC CEO, Mr Mmetla Masire said the development of self-service platforms for their customers was based on the fact that the corporation was customer centric and strived to be abreast with information technology developments for customers’ convenience.
“This exciting collaboration solidifies our transformation journey from over the counter transactions to seamless self-service at customers’ convenience. This empowers water users with the much needed unlimited access to WUC services,” he said.
For his part, FNBB CEO, Mr Steven Bogatsu said the partnership between WUC and FNBB provided WUC with a cost effective revenue collection by bridging the gap between the payee and the payer.
From a management accounting perspective, he said, it will also be easy for WUC to reconcile bill payments, adding “it is a development we are proud to be a part of.”
Meanwhile, the service is available to all WUC customers, whether or not they bank with FNBB.
To access the service on mobile phones, customers would be required to dial *186# and the service is accessible from all mobile devices across all cellular networks.
The service is also available on the WUC website at www.wuc.bw and all transactions via the website and dial code are secure. ENDS
