Tatisiding’s designation as the service centre for the villages of Matshelagabedi, Matsiloje, Patayamatebele, Ditladi, Shashe Bridge, Matopi and sarounding settlements will bring local governance services closer to the people.

Services accessed at Tatisiding include those of physical planning, citing inspection of governmental and private institutional buildings, the Self Help Housing Agency (SHHA).

In an interview, North East District Council secretary, Ms Rachel Jeremia noted that there were also Social and Community Development services such as social grants, assessment of the Poverty Eradication beneficiaries as well as implementation and monitoring the progress of different empowerment projects.

She said the administrative, waste management and the by-law related issues and several other services for these villages is also the responsibility of the Tatisiding Service Centre.

Ms Jeremia further said as Tatisiding becomes the service centre, it would also bring along small scale business opportunities and creation of employment.

Other critical services offered include a 24-hour referral clinic with a maternity wing and a standby ambulance, which rotates within these villages.

Additionally, there is a youth office, which addresses youth related challenges.

Kgosi Simon Nkgageng of Tatisiding said the area had been designated as a service centre about three years back and he was happy that people in the neighbouring villages were forthcoming to fully make use of the services offered.

“To have Tatisiding as the service centre is a milestone development and this has helped people from nearby villages who used to travel long distances to Masunga to access some of these. We are also satisfied about the levels of service that the departments here give,” he said.

Kgosi Nkgageng also said that designating Tatisiding as the service centre had also positively enhanced the landscape of the village, citing infrastructure developments. ENDS
