Kgosi Oatleng Sethodi of Chanoga in the North West region has been commended as a visionary leader.
Maun Administration Authority vice chairman, Mr Vepaune Moreti made the remarks at Chanoga’s 5th anniversary celebration under the leadership of Kgosi Sethodi.
Mr Moreti said Kgosi Sethodi was instrumental in instilling discipline among young people in his community.
He said Kgosi Sethodi’s good leadership ensured developments from government and those self-initiated by the community succeeded.
Mr Moreti encouraged the community to keep supporting their kgosi in his role to develop their village.
Maun Administration Authority assistant district commissioner, Mr Ramogaupi Gaborekwe said the 5th anniversary was a historical event to celebrate Kgosi Sethodi’s legacy while still alive.
Mr Gaborekwe said people were normally celebrated for their good deeds after their death, which did not serve a relevant purpose.
He described Kgosi Sethodi as a hard worker who was completely involved in community and national activities.
Mr Gaborekwe said Kgosi Sethodi has been instrumental in uniting and solving misunderstandings even in the neighbouring settlements.
Kgosi Sethodi said the celebrations were meant to celebrate all the milestones achieved with the community under his leadership since August 23, 2012.
Kgosi Sethodi said the five years period was of unity and expressed hope that the cooperation should continue going forward.
The people of Chanoga and surrounding areas as well as visitors from some parts of South Africa brought Lekang’s farm (Lakka valley) to life. The farm is situated along the riverbank on the outskirts of Chanoga. Ends
