Moepeng urges staff to be exemplary

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry for Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration, Ms Kebonye Moepeng has implored employees in her ministry to be exemplary in serving the public.
Addressing employees of her ministry from Francistown, Tutume, Masunga and Tonota recently in Francistown, Ms Moepeng encouraged employees to provide quality service to the public and desist from chewing gum and using cell phone while attending to the customers,among other things.
Ms Moepeng urged employees to always wear their name tags to reflect that they are proud to be serving the public.
She encouraged officers to be mindful of their comments on social media as some comments can be detrimental to their careers in the public service.
She encouraged the employees to work together in ensuring the ministry achieves its mandate of ensuring good governance and policies that can take the country forward.
Ms Moepeng encouraged her staff to avoid financial embarrassment as way of ensuring a dignified life.
She raised concern that some of the employees in her ministry did not go on leave while some did not sign performance development plans.
She explained that it was only through reviews that employees could confirm that they were doing what they were employed for.
Ms Moepeng encouraged procurement officers to make sure obsolete furniture did not become an eye sore and repairable one should be attended to.
Earlier, Francistown district commissioner, Ms Chabongwa Matseka said the meeting by the permanent secretary will give employees especially those who recently joined the ministry from that of local government and rural development, opportunity to better understand the mandate of their new ministry.
Ms Matseka said the meeting would help the departments to standardise what they were doing and attain the pillars of the new national vision.
She assured Ms Moepeng that in the districts they were committed to service delivery despite resource challenges such as transport and funds.
Ms Matseka applauded Ms Moepeng for her visit saying it indicated her commitment in supporting the efforts of her employees in service delivery.
The meeting was attended by employees of Information Services, Office of District Commissioner, Government Printing and Publishing Services and Broadcasting Services. ENDS
