Moshupa crime prone area

20 Aug 2017

Moshupa sub-council chairman says Moshupa has proven to be crime prone with high incidents of serious cases of armed robberies recently.

Councilor Sonny Phiri said Monday that this quarter the village of Moshupa has been hard hit by cases of armed robberies in which firearms were used and chain shops being the primary target.

“This is very worrisome and I want to urge everyone to join hand in the fight against crime,” he said.

Meanwhile the house learnt also that contractors for installation of flood lights at Kgomokasitwa, Magotlhwane, Lekgoloboto and Ranaka as well as electrical maintenance at Tshwaane and Ranoi Primary School are on site.

A total of six electricians according to Councilor Phiri have been assigned to do electrical maintenance in all Moshupa primary schools from August and September 2017.

He said this will significantly reduce the backlog of unattended reports and in a way empower local electricians.

Also the subcouncil chairman informed fellow councilors that preparations for the upcoming solar street lighting project in Moshupa/Manyana constituency under community projects are underway.

He said also implementation of Ipelegeng programme this financial year was going smoothly and that the employment quota for the subdistrict has been increased by 117 slots which will be shared across the subdistrict.

“This implies that our quota has now increased from 1 235 to 1 352 beneficiaries,” he said.

The development Councilor Phiri said will help reduce unemployment level in the subdistrict thus improving the local economy. ENDS
