Outstanding individuals to get recognition

20 Aug 2017

Outstanding individuals, businesses and community organizations based in Ramotswa will be recognised through annual youth awards in October this year.

Ramotswa Annual Youth Awards (RAYA) chairperson Mr Matlhomola Motsage confirmed during a press and stakeholder briefing at Ramotswa Kgotla recently that the youth awards ceremony will be held in Ramotswa at Emmanuel Counseling Centre on October 27.

Mr Motsage said the awards were precipitated by the fact that Balete’s work, efforts and energies have not been recognized at local level and this result in some individuals, businesses and community champions being demotivated.

“The awards are in place to appreciate outstanding youth in Ramotswa and inspire others in their career paths.

This also include those who have made an input in the development of the arts industry,” he said.

The awards are to nurture local talents in the fields of sports, academics, fine arts, music, fashion, performing arts and disabled category.

They target individuals within 18 and 40 years age bracket and the individual should be a resident of Ramotswa and should have proof of being in the category.

The chairperson of RAYA mentioned that the awards intend to recognise those who have made it in their endeavors.

‘‘We have honorary awards for some individuals who have kept Ramotswa on the map.

These individuals successes should be discernible to every eye or ear that sees or hears the name’’, he said.

Mr Motsage pleaded with the business community to support them with resources that will drive the goals of their project.

He said they do not have enough funds to support the whole project since they intend to give out price money and trophies to victors at the RAYAs. He explained that voting process will be used to choose the winners through social media and Short Message Service through mobile networks.

For his part, Kgosi Motlhanka Mokgosi applauded the RAYA project for being a very great thing to happen to Ramotswa youth and the nation at large.

He vowed to support the project until its launch and warned against conflicts caused by finances, adding that they should not be discouraged by negative feedback.

The Ramotswa Annual Youth Awards is a youth project founded by Mr Motlhomola Motsage, Mr Aubrey Sebalusu, Miss Olorato Thobega and Mr Thabang Keakile. ENDS
