20 Aug 2017
Water supply situation in the Goodhope Sub District said to be constant with minor water supply disruption from the equipment breakdown.
Opening the council session recently, council Chairperson Ms Mmaobene Molefhe said that the problem was due to diesel engines and aging network infrastructure.
She said that the supply from the boreholes has been satisfactory with the improvement of the underground recharge and monitoring in place to check the change in water levels.
On another note she said that the Phase 2.1 of Mogodi – Pitsane Water Supply Project was finally commissioned and handed over to Water Utilities Corporation on the 01st June 2017.
However she said that the Corporation was seeking funding for the upgrade of the network under Lobatse Water Master Plan to improve the supply to areas of Goodhope, Pitsane cluster villages and Tlhareseleele.
She said that, for the 2017/18 financial year, funds have been approved for the Construction of Phitshane Molopo – Mokatako Booster Pump Station with accessories.
Also she noted that the prepaid standpipe system in the Goodhope Sub District was still faced with faulty standpipes which result in water shortage.
For the resolution of WUC she said they were opening some standpipes in the affected areas to assist the community.
When commending the district she said that five RADP houses at Sekhutlane and 22 destitute houses throughout the Sub District were all completed before the scheduled time with most completing before 30th June 2017.
She said that this made the Sub District Council to be the first to complete 2017/18 Destitute houses nationally.
“All these houses were constructed by local builders creating more than seventy temporary employment opportunities.’’ She said.
The houses were handed over by the Minister of Presidential Affairs and Public Administration Mr Eric Molale.. ENDS
