Botswana Guides Association (BOGA) donated uniforms, books and office equipment worth over P40 000 to three primary schools in Maun.

BOGA, an association founded in 1999 by tour guides is a non-profit making organisation, which is committed to spearheading citizen empowerment into the tourism industry.

The association donated uniforms, photocopying machine, books and waste storage structures to Letsholathebe Primary School, Bonatla Primary School and Thamalakane Primary School.

Speaking during the donation at Letsholathebe Primary School recently Assistant Minister of Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration and also MP for Ngami, Mr Thato Kwerepe commended the association for supporting government efforts to improve education through donations and other various projects.

Mr Kwerepe said each donated item added to the cumulated outpouring of goodwill and deeds that were having a positive impact on community’s social well-being.

He said of recent, the response of individuals and organisations to the President’s philanthropic appeal of extending a helping hand to the underprivileged had been overwhelming.

“This is a welcome trend that should continue to carry us forward as a proud, compassionate nation givers as well as receivers, as we all know blessed is the hand that giveth,” he said.

He encouraged the receiving schools to use the donations well and maintain them as a symbol of friendship between the schools and BOGA.

BOGA chairperson, Mr Kenson Kgaga said the donations would bear fruits since it would improve the learning conditions and performance of these schools.

Mr Kgaga explained that government continued to place a great emphasis on the development of human resources in the aim of preparing Botswana from a traditional agro-based economy to industrial economy.

He said the donation came at the right time when government was reeling from the aftermath of the economic downturn adding that it was a true reflection of the good relationship between the schools and BOGA.Ends
