Francistown City mayor, Sylvia Muzila has appealed to the community of the city and surrounding areas to throw their support behind Tafic Football Club, as the club makes a return to the country’s elite league division.

The mayor made the appeal to back Tafic FC during a kgotla meeting at Ikageng ward. She said moral and financial support would help in keeping the team in the premier league.

She  noted that for the team to perform well in its fixtures, it needed money for transportation, accommodation as well as food.

She appealed for any kind of support from the local community and the surrounding areas in order for the team to represent them well in the top league.

“You need to attend all the games in large numbers as doing so will go a long way in giving the players morale to defeat their counterparts,” she noted.

She further explained that as the Francistown City Council (FCC), they endeavour to become a city of all things precious and that sports could not be left behind.

Mayor Muzila highlighted that sports was no longer for passing time, as it had the potential to transform and develop the country’s economy.

“In our quest as the community of Francistown to realise the vision, economic and social growth of our city, we need to seriously consider sports as an aspect that could takes us to great heights,” Ms Muzila said.

She added that the city could not do without sports tourism, and that TAFIC in particular, could be one of the major attractions to the city.
