Diloro theatre of excellence

14 Aug 2017

Though boasting a low enrolment of 161 learners, a group three school in Palapye North Inspectorate, Diloro Primary School is a beacon of excellence, at least according to their performance statistics as hailed by the school head Ms Esther Molelo.

The school lives true to their brand, ‘ Theatre of Excellence’ and emblem ‘Tshwaragano: Mokokotlo wa Thuto (loosely translated, Unity: pillar of education) which make the school culture, so claimed the school head at the recent Palapye Sub Region Excellence Awards when detailing the school’s performance culture.

Diloro Primary School attained 100 per cent pass rate for ABC in 2016, beating all the primary schools in the region.

The school also attained a 93.3 per cent in ABC pass.

To this, the school head attributed the success to various impact factors, amongst them her road map of five approaches that includes inter alia welfare of staff and learners, good rapport with the entire team and good communication.

Ms Molelo said that her strategies put emphasis on learner-centred methods with the aim of producing global citizens.

To realise the production of global citizens, the school head argued there ought to be better learning tools.

“I won’t mention those strategies and innovations as we all know them (but), the important part is the implementation and monitoring of them,” she said.

Further, the school head adopted Michael Shiro’s teaching styles for effective learning activities.

The school prides itself with engagement of all stakeholders who consequently help in delivering the set targets as purported in the slogan of Tshwaragano: Mokokotlo wa Thuto, Ms Molelo has said.

Parents are reportedly involved in setting targets and help like class-teacher and every staff member, to realise the set target.

Statistics show that Diloro Primary School has been on a slow but, steady rise since 2012.

In 2012, the school recorded 56.5 per cent in ABC and 8.7 per cent in AB.

In 2015, the school shot up to 95.2 per cent in ABC and 42.9 in AB before recording a 100 per cent ABC and 93.3 in 2016. BOPA
