Batswana should continue to assist government in reaching its goal of self-sustenance by donating as individuals, corporations and committees.
Officially handing over a tonner ink cartridge to Kalakamati Primary School recently, Kalakamati VDC-Gaborone residents committee chairperson, Mr Tedzani Tshupo highlighted that it was of great importance that different stakeholders play a role in the development of the education sector of the country.
He stated that it was through the help of TKM Engineering that they managed to purchase the cartridge.
Mr Tshupo further explained that members of Kalakamati VDC-Gaborone committee have all agreed to each raise funds by contributing P20.
He noted that the money would be used to buy computers for the school, which would ensure that students get exposure to computers and internet as it was important in preparing the students for ICT classes at higher level education.
He said this would also enable teachers to use the internet as reference material on their daily teachings.
Mr Mbasopi Muzola, who is a member of the committee and also a first year student at University of Botswana said the committee was formed as a move to trigger participation and contribution to the developments of their village by those in Gaborone.
He furthermore elaborated that even though the committee was in its infant stage, they have successfully managed to make their second donation to the school as in 2016 the committee donated educational stationary and blankets, which were awarded to top performers during the school prize giving ceremony.
He said they were currently focusing in the school’s developments as it made them what they were today.
When receiving the toner, the school head, Ms Beauty Nkgare said the gift came at a good time as the current cartridge was running low.
Kgosi Jenamiso Tshupoeng praised the committee for their noble gesture, adding that the reason the schools were performing well was due to the continued loyal support by patrons like kalakamati VDC-Gaborone residents. ENDS
