Botswana students who recently graduated from International University of Japan intend to develop to play a role in the development of Botswana.
Japanese Embassy had offered eight Batswana scholarship for ABE Master Degree programmes in 2015.
Japan International Cooperation Agency (JIGA) representative, Mr Yukio Ishida welcomed two first graduates, Mr Dennis Tlaang who studied MBA in International Management specialising in Marketing and IT while Ms Phatsimo Mmokele studied MBA in Project Management and Operations management in Supply Chain and IT.
During a press briefing recently, Mr Tlaang, who graduated last month said his research theme featured electronic ticketing and payments system for financial institutions in Botswana.
He said he did situation analysis and opportunity identification on the theme for Botswana to see what he could bring back home and Africa.
Mr Tlaang said he developed a model for electronic ticketing in Botswana.
The platform, he said used mobile phones to sell tickets and it does not require internet connection and airtime.
Also, he said the platform was inspired by a Japanese Swica prepaid card stating that the card was not linked to any mobile network and was used to pay in shops and tapped in trains to open doors instead of getting a train ticket.
Mr Atlaang mentioned that the card was used instead of using ATM cards.
For her part, Ms Mmokele mentioned that her theme was centred around health on the impact of internal services quality on employee satisfaction, performance and commitment and customer service in Botswana.
Ms Mmokele said she was not going to seat on what she had learnt in Japan but to see how better she could develop Botswana.
She said even though data collection was slow, she managed to finish her project.
The project, she said was in the process of getting solutions and doing further investigations to improve quality of health service in Botswana through benchmarking with Japan. ENDS
