Fencing material received in good condition
01 Aug 2017
The veld-span which was used at Phuduhudu cluster fence has some patches of rust in some but not all of the roll.
This was said by Assistant Minister of Agriculture Development and Food Security Mr Kgotla Autlwetse, when responding to a question in parliament from Takatokwane MP, Mr Ngaka Ngaka.
When the fencing material was received, Mr Autlwetse said it was in good condition and the rust developed in some rolls afterwards.
“My ministry requested for assistance from Botswana Bureau of Standards to help determine the quality of the material, who certified it to be of good quality after subjecting it to material testing,” he said.
The goods, he said were inspected upon receipt and were in good condition, adding that the ministry paid because upon receipt ‘the fence was inspected and was found to be in good condition and with no rust, hence payment was effected.’
“As far as my ministry is concerned, there was no evidence of corruption in the procurement process. All procurement procedures were followed and the awarded company was approved by the District Tender Committee,” he added.
Mr Ngaka wanted to know if Mr Autlwetse was aware that the fence supplied to Phuduhudu Cluster Fencing was rusty and worn out before use.
Takatokwane MP also wanted to know what action had been taken and whether the goods we inspected upon receipt. ENDS
