Three employees reach compulsory retirement age
26 Jul 2017
Three employees in the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Green Technology and Energy Security will have reached compulsory retirement age by the end of financial year 2017/2018.
This was said by mineral resources, green technology and energy security minister, Advocate Sadique Kebonang.
Furthermore, Advocate Kebonang noted that there were two officers who were employed past their retirement age, on contract basis, whose contracts come to an end in financial year 2017/2018.
“Only one officer will reach compulsory retirement age in the financial year 2018/2019,” he added.
Currently, he said his ministry had one officer on D2 salary scale, principal mining surveyor, who would be considered “and therefore assessed for promotion into the D1 technical post when it falls vacant.”
Through the above retirements, the minister said only one technical post would be created.
Specially elected MP, Mr Mephato Reatile had asked Advocate Kebonang to state the number of employees who reached the compulsory retirement age in financial year 2017/2018, and the number of those who would reach compulsory retirement age in financial year 2018/2019.
He also wanted the minister to state whether he had made arrangements for succession with regard to those who held technical posts, and the number of technical posts that would be created by retiring employees. ENDS
