Moshupa Sub -district officers on July 21 presented Vice President, Mr Mokgweetsi Masisi with a surprise birthday package.

As usual, the national anthem was sung but just when Mr Masisi was about to take his seat, officers rattled out a birthday song for him and two of them went forth to give him a cake.

Mr Masisi, also area Member of Parliament, had coincidentally come on his birthday to officially open the Moshupa Sub-district agricultural show.

He sliced the cake and shared it with dignitaries, among them assistant minister of Agricultural Development and Food Security, Mr Kgotla Autlwetse, Botswana Meat Commission (BMC) chief executive officer, Dr Akolang Tombale, Kgosi Oscar Mosielele of Moshupa, Southern District Council chairperson Mr Alec Seametso and the district leadership.

Mr Masisi who was beside himself with joy for a rare expression of affection, thanked the officers and described the gift as a show of love and goodwill for him.

The mastermind behind the gift and Southern District commissioner, Mr Mmoloki Raletobana said they took advantage of the fact that Mr Masisi also area member of parliament was coming to officially open the show and bought him the gift to wish him well. 

Although small, in his words, he said the cake was given with love. ENDS
