The Seventh Day Adventist Church, South Botswana Conference recently donated over P14 000 towards renovating Mmankgodi kgotla shelter.

The donation came after members of the church heard the chief’s plea regarding the dilapidated kgotla shelter during the official opening of the church’s conference in Nyangane, Mmankgodi.

Speaking at the handing over of the donation recently, Pastor Phemelo Seboka who is also the church’s executive secretary said the church saw it fit to give back to the community of Mmankgodi, saying as a church, they are not only concerned about the spirituality of people, but they also care about the welfare of communities and the nation as a whole.

Another Pastor, Lopang Raboloko said the church will continue to engage in corporate social responsibility activities across the nation to restore dignity, feed the hungry and clothe the needy.

He said Mmankgodi village is special to them as they have been given a plot in the village where they hold their camp meetings.

Still at the handing over, the church also donated food hampers and toiletries to five elders in the village to which the chief financial officer of the church, Pastor Okopetswe Simankane said it is just but a token of appreciation to the elders. 

He pointed out that the church will continue to build schools, clinics, hospitals and churches to restore conduct and maintain good health in citizens.

A beneficiary, Mr Ramaokana Dibe expressed gratitude to the Adventists church and urged other churches across the country to also engage in acts of giving back to the community.

When receiving the donations, chaiperson of the village development committee, Ms Lorato Radikgokong encouraged the church to keep making a positive change in communities, saying blessed is the hand that gives than the one that receives.

For his part, Kgosi Solofelang Thobega expressed gratitude and encouraged memebers of the Seventh Day Adventists congregation to continue helping communities to contribute to the country’s vision of being a compassionate, just and caring nation. ENDS
