Kgosi Tendani Manyewa of Mafungo has said the Constituency Fund is a milestone development that will give communities an opportunity to prioritise and implement their notable desired developments.
Speaking in an interview, Kgosi Manyewa also noted that the Shashe West Constituency fund was divided amongst 10 village to share the amount of P10 million.
He said with the funds, they have reached a common agreement with the Village Extension Teams (VETs) and other relevant stakeholders so as to construct a clinic and an LA2 housing structure for the nurses’ accommodation.
Kgosi Manyewa revealed that the estimated costs for the entire project stood at P750 000 and a site for construction of the project had been identified.
Additionally, he said other necessities in line with the project such as tendering and identification of the contractor to carry out the project would be done accordingly by the relevant officials.
Kgosi Manyewa said the remaining funds would also be used where there was a dire need for other developmental activities.
He further indicated that although the project was spearheaded by the community leadership, relevant personnel would be engaged, especially to assist with technical advice, inspection as well as to closely monitor the resources.
Kgosi Manyewa said the decision to build a clinic will not only help to enhance the landscape of the village but will bring medical services closer to the community, hence people will be encouraged to give their health related matters a priority.
He said currently, the community depended on the mobile clinic, which served other nearby villages and only visited once a month.
Moreover, he said when such visits were made, the only service provided was that of the monthly baby weights checkups.
“There is a high demand of a health facility due to the growing populace and we are forced to travel to Tutume Primary Hospital for consultation,” he said.
Kgosi Manyewa also appreciated the spirit of volunteerism that the community has exercised so as to bring in some of the developments such as the mini shelter at the village kgotla. ENDs
