A young Motswana aspiring philanthropist, Ms Koketso Buti from Palapye has encouraged pupils of Gxhabara Primary School in Maun to take education seriously and listen to teachers and parents’ advice.
Ms Buti said this at Gxhabara Primary School where she donated 80 pairs of school shoes to underprivileged pupils.
She said her mandate was not only on donations, but also to motivate, inspire and restore pupils’ dignity in the school environment.
“The donation issue has been troubling me for some time now since I did not know where to start.
I prayed to God for guidance and a friend directed me to this school,” she said.
The 80 pairs of shoes amounted to about P7 200.
Gxhabara Primary School head, Ms Tracy Mokonki commended Ms Buti and her friends for the gesture, especially that it was done by young people.
Ms Mokonki further encouraged Maun youth to see how they could assist the needy in their communities.
“I say to our sponsors that blessed is the hand that gives than the one that receives.
Ms Mokonki said the 80 pupils who benefitted were identified with the help of teachers and the Social and Community Development office. ENDs
