09 Jul 2017

Principal programmes officer in the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development  Ms Onnetse Malope has applauded the ministry’s staff for donating clothes and cash to their late colleague’s son.

The child who is living with disability is looked after by the grandmother.

She said being compassionate to others was vital hence the ministry found it fit to give back to the family.

“As we work together, we become a family; therefore we were a family with Goitseone Jim who passed away in 2013 immediately after giving birth,” she said, adding that as staff  they agreed to contribute money to give to the child who was an infant at the time but only later realised that he had disability.

“After noticing that the child was receiving therapy every month in Ramotswa we contributed money to help her unemployed grandmother with transport money and to buy toiletries ,” she added.

When receiving the donation on behalf of her grandchild, Ms Sethetheti Sekwalo expressed gratitude saying, “I am happy because this shows that my child indeed had a family at work that loved her so much and understood her life challenges as she was not earning much.”

For her part, the wellness, welfare and community service focal person, Ms Mphoentle Hans promised that they will  continue assisting the family.  ENDS
