South Sudan secretary general of government has applauded local farmers for using the scarce water resource in their quest to feed the nation.
In an interview, Mr Abdon Nhial who had attended the Mosi/Sedibeng field day on the invitation of his counterpart, Permanent Secretary to the President (PSP), Mr Eric Molale said he was impressed that most of the commercial farmers relied solely on rains.
With the level of passion and enthusiasm the local farmers exhibited, he said Botswana would be a food granary for other nations if it received as much rains as South Sudan. He also commended government for doing more with less.
“Although you are struggling with rains, I’m delighted that farming here is so organised,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mr Molale challenged financial institutions to invest money into farming to enable farmers to purchase the necessary implements and keep up with the latest farming technologies. ENDS
