No ambulance at Tshimologo clinic
06 Jul 2017
Tshimologo Clinic in Jwaneng neither has a driver nor an ambulance.
This was said by the Minister of Tertiary Education, Research, Science and Technology, Dr Alfred Madigele while answering a question in Parliament on July 4.
Minister Madigele, who was answering the question on behalf of the Minister of Health and Wellness, Ms Dorcas Makgato, said Tshimologo Clinic had been allocated one ambulance, which was later transferred from Jwaneng Town Council to the District Health Management Team (DHMT) in 2010 during the relocation of clinics.
Presently, he said DHMT and Mabutsane CTO office were in the process of boarding the said ambulance because it was too old.
In addition, he said that the clinic had been operating without a driver since November 2014.
Dr Madigele explained however that clients in the area were being assisted from Ditsweletse Clinic, which he pointed out, was within five kilometres from Tshimologo Clinic.
Jwaneng-Mabutsane MP, Mr Shawn Nthaile had asked the minister if she was aware that Tshimologo Clinic neither had a driver nor a functional ambulance.
He had also wanted to know how many ambulances the clinic had been allocated, when the ambulances had been procured as well as when they were due for replacement.
Mr Ntlhaile also wanted to know the length of time the clinic had operated without a driver.
Still concerning Jwaneng clinics, Minister Madigele said he was not aware that Ditsweletse Clinic had a shortage of ambulances.
He said the clinic had been allocated two ambulances, both of which were currently operational.
One of the ambulances, he said, was procured in 2014 while the other was transferred from Jwaneng Town Council to DHMT during the relocation of clinics in 2010.
The ambulance that had been transferred from Jwaneng Town Council was due for replacement in 2018, he pointed out.
MP Nthaile had asked the Minister of Health and Wellness if she was aware that Ditsweletse Clinic had a shortage of ambulances.
He had wanted the minister to state the number of ambulances allocated to the clinic, how many of those were currently working, when they were procured, and when they were due for replacement. ENDS
