Long time journalist Lotshe laid to rest

A long time journalist, Solomon Lotshe (89) was laid to rest at his home village of Tonota on July 3.

He died after a long illness at Nyagabgwe Referral Hospital in Francistown.

Mr Lotshe worked for the then Department of Information and Broadcasting for 21 years as a reporter and spent most of his time based in Francistown.

Before joining the Information department he had a short stint with the first Botswana national census, where he worked as an enumerator.

Speakers at his funeral described Mr Lotshe as a disciplined, visionary and a loving person.

Speaking at the funeral, a retired journalist, Mr Tarcisius Mudongo, who worked with the late Mr Lotshe described him as hard working person, who educated Batswana on government policies through the media.

Mr Lotshe helped in the grooming of young reporters in the likes of the late Mishingo Mpaphadzi, Botswelelo Tlale among others.

His nieces, Ms Simangaliso Mpatane, Ms Mkhumbulo Mathambo and her daughter in law Ms Chisitole Lotshe praised the late Lotshe for uniting the family.

Mr Lotshe will be remembered by the then co-workers for being strict, his guidance and instilling team work spirit.

Mr Lotshe leaves behind six children,16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. ENDS
