Minister presents house

Botswana Co-operatives Association (BOCA) which is the apex body of all Co-operatives in Botswana, has donated a house worth P150 000 to Mr Motsamai Nfila and his family of eight.
The house came with a Ricod Kitchen Garden, which has different vegetable crops and spices.
The Ricod Kitchen Garden was donated by the area Member of Parliament, Mr Nonofo Molefhi, who is also Minister of Infrastructure and Housing Development.
The house, located at Botshabelo ward and Ricod Kitchen Garden were officially opened and handed over to the Nfila family by Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, Mr Vincent Seretse as part of the commemoration of the International Co-operatives Day.
Mr Seretse hailed BOCA and Minister Molefhi for the good gesture.
He encouraged the family to take care of the house and utilise the garden accordingly.
He encouraged Mr Nfila not to be lured by anyone into sell the house.
The house donation by BOCA, he said, was in response to the Presidents Housing Appeal to those who can house the less fortunate members of society and to contribute to community development.
Minister Molefhi said through the donation, BOCA demonstrated the spirit of love, compassion and care towards fellow citizens.
He encouraged the nation and the business sector to emulate BOCA.
He said the move was in line with the basic principles of Setswana principle of Botho, compassion and caring for one another.
Selebi Phikwe Cooperative Society chairperson, Mr Tebogo Venson explained that every two years after the commemoration of the International Co-operatives Day, co-operatives raise funds to donate or construct a house for a less privileged person or family as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
He said this time around all co-operatives donated at least P1 000 towards the initiative.
Nfila family, he said was identified by the Social and Community Development office in Selebi Phikwe. ENDS
