Healthy lifestyle hikes performance at work

Dibotelo has encouraged employees of the high court to participate in household chores that promote and improve a healthy lifestyle.

Speaking at the Administration of Justice wellness day,held under the theme ‘Healthy lifestyle:foundation for organizational success’, Chief Justice Dibotelo said employees should make it a habit to do chores that helped one physically exercise like sweeping the yard with traditional brooms.

He said the annual wellness day marked a day when the administration of justice set aside time from their busy schedule to focus on health.

“We need to learn to remind ourselves that wellness encompasses a healthy holistic lifestyle,” he said.

For his part Registrar and Master of the High Court, Mr Michael Mothobi said there was need for employees of any organisation to be healthy so that they could be able to discharge their duties effectively and efficiently.

“Being healthy is not just a goal but a lifestyle, we can start with small changes such as taking stairs rather than an elevator, smiling more and drinking more water especially in summer ,we have to make these habits part of our routine,” he said.

Mr Mothobi also said the administration of justice considered the wellness day seriously and aimed to educate staff and direct them towards improved physical, mental and social well-being so that they could make a meaningful contribution to the development of Botswana as a healthy nation.

Experts from the health sector were brought in to inform and teach on simple and modest ways to start taking towards an improved healthy lifestyle.

There was free testing for various diseases like HIV, diabetes and high blood pressure. ENDS
