Nature heralds Sir ketumile departure
27 Jun 2017
Just like the Biblical wise men who followed a star to the new born baby in Nazareth who would become King and Saviour of the world, some Batswana especially elders still observe and look for answers from some elements of nature like stars, moon and all.
For Mr Keabatshola Bareetseng of Dilolwe ward in Kanye nature in her infinite wisdom is one with any man whose one life touches many other lives and advances the cause of humanity this side of the grave.
When he saw a rare blue and red tailed star shooting across the sky from East to West in the early hours of Thursday he knew that nature, according to his wisdom gathered over time, was communicating bad news about a King somewhere around the world.
The oral traditionalist said just as winning athletes usually receive a standing ovation for a good fight, nature also has her way of sending off great sons and daughters who had dedicated their lives to the service of others.
Mr Bareetseng who was born in 1940 said he later that day saw a heavily pregnant dog running around its owner’s yard with a new born puppy hanging from behind which to him was without doubt, a premonition of doom.
His premonition was later confirmed when he heard of the passing on of the Father of the nation Sir Ketumile Masire Friday morning. To him what he saw was a fitting tribute to a man who will be immortalised by his great works for the nation and beyond.
Mr Bakang Tshweneyagae and Letumile Diforete of Dilolwe ward in Kanye also claimed to have experienced a slight earth tremor the night Sir Ketumile departed.
They shared Kanye Route-8 combi from Dilolwe to Mongala mall Friday morning.
The two young men also corroborated the view that mother nature by methods of her own was indicating the end of an era for a man who has indelibly written his name on the pages of history. ENDS
