Orange Botswana donates to charity
22 Jun 2017
Orange Botswana has once again shown its commitment towards community development by donating P100 000 to Lady Khama Charitable Trust (LKCT), in an effort to support and help improve the lives of vulnerable women and children.
According to a press release from Orange Botswana, the Trust, which was established in 2002 in honour of the late Lady Ruth Khama through its patron, President Lt Gen. Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama, continues to pursue the community development work that Lady Khama spent much of her time on.
It further states that the donation will enable LKCT to continue uplifting the lives of susceptible women and children living in Botswana by providing financial support to charitable organisations that support this mandate.
“Through this annual donation which started as the Orange Pompa Lebotha Competition in 2015, Lady Khama Charitable Trust has over the years received a total of P1 200 636 from Orange Botswana,” reads the press release.
It further states that Ms Rebecca Binns of LKCT said the Trust allocates these funds to different projects in the country, through a grant application system.
“Through this grant application system charitable organisations submit requests for support to LKCT and these submissions are then reviewed at the quarterly Board of Trustee meetings. Those that meet the grant application guidelines then receive support from the Trust,” she said.
As it has been for the past two years, states the release, the funds received from this handover will be directed towards charitable organisations.BOPA
