Kasane hosts African Child Day

Botswana will join the the international community in the commemoration of the Day of the African Child on June 16 in Kasane under the theme “The 2010 agenda for sustainable development for children in Africa: accelerating protection, empowerment and equal opportunity.”
A press release from the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development says the day seeks to draw attention to the linkages between the Sustainable Development Goals and the African Children’s Charter and inspire State Parties to accelerate efforts towards realising all children’s rights as provided by the Charter.
The release says the Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso is expected to officiate at the event. ENDS
