MPs travel to Malta

Members of Parliament for Mochudi West and Takatokwane are to attend the 46th session of the ACP Parliamentary Assembly (ACP PA) and the 33rd session of the African, Caribbean and Pacific-European Union Joint Parliamentary Assembly (ACP-EU PA) in St. Julian’s, Malta, from June 14-June 21.

According to a press release from the National Assembly, Mr Gilbert Mangole and Mr Ngaka Ngaka left on June 12.

The release further states that some of the issues to be discussed include among others considering amendments and adoption of draft reports such as the financing of political parties in ACP and EU countries, improving aid and developing effectiveness in EU-ACP cooperation, and the role of sport as an enabler for education and poverty eradication.

“The meeting is also expected to exchange views on challenges in the field of security-development nexus in ACP and EU countries, opportunities and challenges for ACP states in improving access to basic health systems, notably to medicines in the fight against infectious diseases and political situation in ACP and EU member states,” says the release.

It also notes that Botswana is currently a member of the ACP-EU standing committee on political affairs.

The MPs are expected home on June 23. ENDS
