Government commits to facilitate assistance to CKGR residents
29 May 2017
The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development wishes to respond to the Botswana Gazette article that appeared on the 24 May 2017 edition under the headline “Gov’t blocks Basarwa burial in the CKGR.”
Though there were initial consultations on the burial of Mr Kanyo Kaingotla between the ministry and the Central Kgalagadi Game Reserve (CKGR) consultative committee representative Mr Roy Sesana to establish if the deceased was a resident of the CKGR or not, it has always been government’s position to facilitate the family.
Against this backdrop, the government wishes to further reiterate its commitment to provide assistance to CKGR residents in conformity with agreed initiatives. ENDS
