22 May 2017
Speaking at the ministry’s excellence awards ceremony in Gaborone on Friday, Mr Molefhi said recognition of excellent work provided a good platform for continuous improvement.
“The awards also nurture greater accountability among employees and cultivates a harmonious relationship between staff and those who receive the service provided,” he said.
The minister said the performance rewards bestowed upon employees of the ministry were a motivation for excellent performance whose growth should spread across the entire ministry.
“We acknowledge that the token of appreciation offered today may not be enough, but remember that a greater reward for good service is a satisfied customer who pays your salaries through tax,” the minister said.
Minister Molefhi said in spite of all the challenges the ministry faced, there was considerable room for improvement in areas which do not need resource capacitation such as commitment, good work ethics and Botho.
He said as the ministry, they were the visionaries of the realisation of provision of adequate housing and sustainable urban development through appropriate policy and regulatory guidelines.
“I want to assure you this afternoon that the workforce of this ministry has men and women who are committed to efficient and effective delivery of public services, and for this commitment they all deserve our praises and applause,” he said.
The awards ranged from best customer care award, exemplary employees award, performance based award. Ms Thendekani Kgomotso got away with employee of the year award, best in customer care award and performance based award respectively. ENDS
