Ngele makes history
21 May 2017
Botswana’s footballing gem, Mogakolodi ‘Tsotso’ Ngele currently plying his trade in South Africa’s money spinning ABSA Premiership, has bagged another championship medal, adding to his other medal previously received at African Champions, Mamelodi Sundowns.
Ngele’s trophy and medal display received a new addition via a draw when his side and new ABSA Premiership Champions, Wits University settled on Wednesday night for a two all draw against Polokwane City, a team that has another local player, Modiri ‘Carlos’ Marumo sitting on the technical bench as goalkeeper coach.
It appears Ngele, who started his career under renowned former national team goalkeeper and owner of Uniao Flamengo Santos, Matshediso ‘Sexton’ Kowa, is on the road to becoming the country’s all time much decorated footballing export.
The enterprising Ngele has followed in the footsteps of football greats such as the late Terrence Mophuting, current Extension Gunners caretaker coach, Itumeleng ‘Tumie’ Duiker, Diphetogo ‘Dipsy’ Selolwane, Boitumelo ‘Navara’ Mafoko, Joel ‘16’ Mogorosi, Mogogi ‘Gino’ Gabonamong, Phenyo ‘Mzambiya’ Mongala, Ofentse ‘Size 10’ Nato and Omaatla Kebatho in plying their trade in the neighbouring highly competitive league.
The former Township Rollers, Platinum Stars and Sundowns gifted left footed player is on cloud nine as he appears to be on the verge of achieving more, with his team affectionately called
The Students, as they are a product of Witwatersrand University in Johannesburg, having booked an automatic place in the next African Champions League competition.
With such prospects, he will have a chance to showcase his talent on a larger continental stage, which has household names and most achieving African clubs such as Al Ahly of Egypt and TP Mazembe amongst others.
His exploits in the South African league are yet to reach the top, especially that he did not get much game time under coach Gavin Hunt, and he might just be the extra zing the side will need in continental competition and cup competitions. Ngele’s stay in the South African top league might soon come to an end as more European scouts will see him with his fellow teammates on their African sojourn. ENDS
