Councillor for Kgosing ward in Kanye, Mr Mosekisi Rangobana has vowed to continue assisting students who excel in their final examinations.
Speaking during appreciation ceremony of five former Mathiba Junior Secondary School students in Kanye recently, Mr Rangobana said he decided to recognise those students who had aced their exams as a way of encouraging them to continue working hard.
He noted that their achievements would motivate other students to be serious with their education.
Councillor Rangobana, who paid school fees of P900 to the overall students, said he had also started the same initiative at Mokgadi Primary School to appreciate such students.
He reiterated that government had always been concerned about students’ results declining due to alcohol and drug abuse and as such, those who excel in their examswere contributing positively to the nation’s economy.
For his part, former school head, Mr Monametsi Sanako challenged the current students to have confidence and trust in themselves and to also develop ‘Yes, I can’ mentality.
He encouraged students to pledge that they would be among the best when results were released.
Mathiba JSS agriculture teacher, Ms Puna Sebokonyane also concurred with Mr Sanako saying students needed to develop a positive attitude that would take them to greener pastures regardless of the challenges they face in life.
When giving a word of motivation, one of the former students who obtained first class, Ms Thato Modibedi thanked the councillor for the gesture and the school for their support.
She challenged the current students to surpass her grades. ENDS
