Dow congratulates teachers

15 May 2017

The Minister of Basic Education Dr Unity Dow has commended teachers and Broadcasters Organisation Team (BOT) for hosting ‘a successful’ national broadcasting summit. She pointed out that she was particularly impressed by the way the primary school children conducted themselves during the summit held from May 12 to 13 in Tsabong.
The pupils displayed a good command of the English language as they took part in quizzes, debates, videography and photography.
The summit included all the seven regions in the country and will be held in Bobirwa region next year.

The minister pointed out that although the syllabus was congested, there was no doubt that teachers were hard at work to ensure that students understood, comprehended, analysed and grasped the content they were being taught.
She went on to commend basic education teachers saying it was clear that they were doing a good job in teaching sign language students communication skills.
“I am proud that you are unearthing gem through your hard work and the commitment you have shown,” she said.
Minister Dow said the broadcasting summit would go a long way in building the country because it was clear that they were cultivating the interest of communication at a young age, something she said would greatly help the future generation contribute to debates in their own comfort.

She pointed out that students would be able to compete with their counter parts at regional and international levels because they would be exposed to different communication platforms.
The Minister also toured the maths and science fair for junior schools held at Tsabong Unified school.
During the tour, she encouraged students to make sure that they continued with  their hard work until they finished school. ENDS
